Justin & Sandra
Venue Old Somerley Park
in Dorset near Hampshire on the New Forest border.
Somerley is a 7,000 acre private Estate and offers a wealth of opportunities for photography
the house and grounds have been featured in many period dramas.
Nestling in hundreds of acres of parkland, just 15 minutes from Bournemouth, Old Somerley is
licensed for Civil Ceremonies or can be used for private dining. The newly renovated building
retains the original features of wooden beams and rustic charm with a contemporary style.
David and I have photographed at Somerley before and so we had some ideas, we
met up with Justin and Sandra at Somerley the afternoon before the wedding to
find out how they wanted to use the venue in terms of their wedding photography.
One of the things we spotted while we talked and walked round was an old fishing
lodge near to the Somerly lakes, it was run down but might lend itself to some fun
portraits.
On the day there was time after the group portraits to go down to the fishing lodge
and capture some relaxed photographs, I created an aged look using graphics editing
software to make these images extra special.
The whole day was perfect, we were able to capture images from Sandra getting ready
before the ceremony, to a fantastic sunset with the beautiful Somerley country estate
creating a stunning backdrop.
